large male slow worm

Here is one of the biggest slow worms I have ever seen. Slow worms (Anguis fragilis) are often mistook for snakes but are in fact a legless lizard. They are fairly easy to tell the males from the females as they have different markings, the males are usually greyish or pale brown rather uniform colour, some have blue spots. and males also have larger heads, the females are more brown, sometimes coppery with much darker brown/black flanks and a thin stripe running down the middle and the head is smaller.
